How a Chair works
The whole role, in order — what you do at each step, how members reach you, what you earn and how it is paid, the tools you get, and the rules that are yours alone to keep.
Every step has a button that opens a working piece of the board. Press things. Nothing you do there is real.
What a Chair is
A Chair runs events: a Round Table online, a breakfast, or a day out in the city. You set the stage, the date and the price, and you decide who sits. A member who has done one of each has completed a Season — in any order, with any Chair.
You are the person in the room. You keep time, keep it fair, draw out the quiet one, end a conversation that has gone wrong, and take every complaint privately. Members address you, not us.
How members reach you — two doors
Through Sit n Talk: somebody applies, our team checks them and allocates them to you. You see them on your board the moment that happens.
Through your own link: every Chair gets a personal link and a page of their own. Anyone who joins through it is yours from the first minute — no queue, no approval, you speak to them yourself before they sit down.
Before the event · your call
Every new member gets a call from you before any date is set. You are about to tell a room that everyone in it has been checked, so you make it true. A member you cannot reach does not sit.
Your board keeps each step in order: your call done, the Round Table proposed, attended, the feedback form sent, feedback in. One button moves each member to the next step; nothing moves backwards.
The Round Table · 25 minutes, online, scripted
You create the event, lock it, set display names to first names only, and run the 25 minutes to a script you already have open. Cameras on, no phone numbers, no venue talk.
For members Sit n Talk allocates to you, the Round Table is free — it is the door, and it stays open. For members who come through your own link, it is your first paid session, at your price.
After every stage · four questions, then your decision
Each member answers four questions to you and nobody else: did they feel safe, who they would sit with again, how it was, are they ready for the next stage. Two minutes.
Then you decide, for each member, advance or close the Season — with a reason our team can read. Three things are checked before the button works: the person attended, the feedback is in, and nobody said they did not feel safe without your two-hour call already filed.
What you earn
Seventy percent of every paid stage your members sit, paid to you after the money lands. Sit n Talk keeps thirty. You never collect money yourself: once a member is ready, our desk sends the payment link, chases it, and marks it paid.
Members who come through your own link sit at your prices, which you set on your profile: an online session within a band Sit n Talk sets, a breakfast at double, and the later stages at whatever you decide. Members Sit n Talk allocates to you sit at Sit n Talk's published prices — the same for everyone at that event.
Your board
One place, on your phone or a laptop: your members and where each one is, your calendar for the week, your profile and pictures, your events, your money, your link, your availability, and the playbook with the script.
You see only your own members. Another Chair's members, feedback and notes are never visible to you, and yours are never visible to them. A member's phone number is revealed one at a time, when you press Reveal, and every reveal is logged.
Open sessions · your own events
You can run free open sessions online — an hour on a subject you hold an event on, a taster of how a Round Table runs. They appear on your page, anyone can book a seat, and the people who come are the people most likely to join through you.
What cannot be delegated
A member who says they did not feel safe hears from you within two hours, at any hour. A complaint at 11 p.m. is answered that night.
First names only, everywhere. No member's number ever leaves your board. Nothing said at an event is repeated outside it. Every venue is a public, staffed, commercial place inside the city — never a home, and never before the date is agreed. Nothing a member says is ever used to sell anything.
From applying to your first event
You apply — five short screens, no membership needed first. Our team reads it and calls you. If it is a yes, you sit beside a working Chair through a Round Table and a breakfast before you run your own.
Then you get your board, your link and your page, write your three lines, set your availability, and Sit n Talk allocates your first members. Your own first members can arrive through your link the same day.
Five short screens. You do not need to be a member first. Our team reads every application and calls the ones that fit.
The rules of the room are in the code of conduct; the fine print is in the terms and the privacy notice.
